Installing decorative concrete requires skill and timing. The stamping and coloring work must be done while the concrete is still workable, which means our crew has to work efficiently and precisely. Here is how we do it:

Site Preparation

Just like any concrete project, we start with proper site prep. We excavate, grade for drainage, and install a compacted base. This foundation work is critical for preventing cracks and settling, even with decorative finishes.

Concrete Placement

We pour high-quality concrete mixed to the right consistency for stamping. If you chose integral color, the pigment is already mixed into the concrete. We spread and level the concrete, then wait for it to reach the right stage for stamping.

Color Application

If you are using color hardeners or release agents, we apply them at the right time. These products add color and help the stamps release from the concrete without sticking.

Stamping

Our crew presses stamp mats into the concrete to create the pattern and texture. This requires careful placement to keep patterns aligned and ensure realistic-looking joints and textures. We work methodically across the entire surface.

Finishing and Sealing

After the concrete cures, we clean the surface and apply a high-quality sealer. The sealer protects the color, enhances the appearance, and makes maintenance easier. It also provides some slip resistance and protects against stains and weather damage.

One of the best things about decorative concrete is how little maintenance it requires. You do not need to replace individual stones or pavers. You do not have to worry about weeds growing between joints. You just need to keep it clean and reseal it every few years.

We recommend sweeping regularly and washing with a hose or pressure washer as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals or deicing salts that can damage the sealer. Every 2 to 3 years, you should reseal the surface to maintain the color and protection. We offer resealing services, or you can do it yourself with products we recommend.
